As an actress, she is best-known for playing the role of Mawande Memela in the popular SABC1 soap opera Generations.

Boasting of over a decade of years in the entertainment industry, still she remains one of the viewer’s favorite. She also does motivational speaking and voice coaching when not doing other professions.

Background

She was born on 12 February 1967 in Mthatha, the main city of the King Sabata Dalindyebo Local Municipality, Eastern Cape. She entered the industry in 1999 and has remained active to date.

Many fans were in for a shocker when they knew that the “young-looking actress is in her fifties. Defying the laws of aging, she has maintained that sweet-sixteen looks and her photos say more.

Though she was raised in the Eastern Cape, she relocated to Canada as a teenager of 13 years. She moved to the new location with her mother who was studying there.

Career

She appeared in the television series Shado’s, Interrogation Room and The Lab. The actress underwent training in music, theatre, and film before she came back to South Africa.

She then kicked off her profession as an actress and presenter. First presenting job was as a continuity presenter for SABC TV. She later moved as a presenter to SABC2 wildlife show 50/50.

Ever since acting roles keep coming one after another on television. She appeared on several series in a starring role. Mpumlwana starred in Justice for all, Yizo Yizo, Interrogation room, The Lab, and Shado’s.
