Mmusi Maimane (born 6 June 1980 in Krugersdorp) is a South African politician. He has led several political parties since 2015 including Democratic Alliance (2015-2019).
He has also been the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly of South Africa (2014-2019). To add to his profession, he is an elder and pastor in the conservative Liberty Church.
In 2020, the political juggernaut began the One South African Movement. He has also been the flagbearer for the Democratic Alliance (DA) in the 2011 municipal elections.

The political heavyweight was born into the family of Simon and Ethel Maimane on 6 June 1980. His mother delivered him at the Leratong Hospital, Krugersdorp.
He was raised by his parents in Soweto. His father’s birthplace is in Soweto and hails from Tswana ancestry. His mother was raised in Cofimvaba, Eastern Cape.
She hails from the Xhosa ancestry, his dad belongs to the Bafokeng clan, and his mom the Sidloyi clan. His father and mother met in the late 70s and got married in the early ’80s.
Mmusi’s father and mother exchanged their marital vow in 1980 at Dobsonville in Soweto, South Africa. He is the oldest of the four children his parents had.
He had his basic academic pursuit at Raucall in Soweto. He then attended Allen Glen High School and had his matriculation in 1997.
Mmusi had his undergraduate program at the University of South Africa (UNISA). He obtained a degree in Psychology from the institution.
He furthered his master’s degree at the University of the Witwatersrand. He graduated with a degree in Public Administration.
Maimane obtained another Master’s degree in Theology from Bangor University in Wales.
Though is known as a core politician, he has a career background in the business sphere. Maimane once worked as a business consultant and trainer for firms within and outside the country.
As a consultant, he was able to assist organizations with the stratification and development of leadership capacity.
Unknown to many, he was a lecturer at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS), University of Pretoria.
He also occupies the role of chairperson of many Non-Governmental Boards.
Mmusi Maimane is happily married to Natalie Maimane. Before saying “I do”, the couple dated and a proposal followed. After eight months, the couple exchanged their marital vows in 2005.
Though, Mmusi met his wife when she was fifteen at the Community Ministries Church, Muldersdrift, Johannesburg.
Though cementing their marital union with a wedding encountered a challenge. They are from different races, Natalie from Roodepoort while Mmusi from Soweto.
Well, they overcame it at last and became one in holy matrimony. They had their white wedding on a Saturday and the traditional one on a Sunday in Dobsonville.
Their union is blessed with lovely children including Kgalaletso and Daniel.
Mmusi has shown that being a leader is in the qualities and actions. With the positions he had lead and the outcome of his leadership, we would conclude that he is a good leader.
