Jacques Blignaut (born 16 July 1979 in Vryburg, North West) is a South African actor. He is known for appearing in the films Inescapable and Gums & Noses.

He is also credited for playing the role of beloved chef Vince Meintjies in 7de Laan. He appeared in the show for 15 years.

Background

Jacques was born on 16 July 1979 in Vryburg, a largely agricultural town in North West Province, South Africa. 

Family

Jacques is married to Melani. He met her in 2000 when he was a student at the University of Witwatersrand. They had to split when Melanie relocated to the Far East.

Fate brought them together after they reunited at a church service in 2008. He got married to her in the next year. 

Their union is blessed with three children including two daughters and a son. His son was born in March 2021. The happy father took to Facebook to announce the arrival of his baby boy – Raphael Jacques Blignaut.

Career

He has appeared in several films and television serials. Jacques was cast in the 2012 film Inescapable and the 2004 Gum and Noses. 

Jacques also appeared in the SABC2 soap opera 7de Laan. He was cast in the television serial for fifteen years as Vince Meintjies. He appeared in telenovela on SABC3 The Estate as Martin van Wyk.

Exit from 7de Laan

Fans and viewers of the soap opera 7de Laan were left surprised after knowing of his departure. Many loved his role as chef Vince Meintjies.

The actor says he “was a need for a new adventure, something different and challenging”.

He told The Citizen that the decision had been a long time coming. Many moments came when he thought it was time to exit from the soap opera. According to him, he prayed often concerning the decision.
